Details: Gold metallic details bordering with opaque red and pale blue
This painting is inspired by the famous last century Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. I came across some early 1900 black and white photos of her, i was enchanted by her charismatic glance and impressed by her beautiful traditional costume. The beautiful headdress "kokoshnik" draped with pearls, decorated with beads and embroidery. I knew it was going to be a detailed piece of work to create, and take some dedication to complete. Considering these photo's were not in color, i let my imagination run free on that department and chose the combination of baby blue, red and gold. I had noticed this complimentary color combination in some beautiful Jugendstil jewelry, from the same era. This artwork is my interpretation of these elements combined, merged with a slight surreal twist. This portrait is not intended to resemble her as a person, just inspired by.
