This unique little painting was my first mixed media artwork. I always loved working with diverse patterns and textures when i used to create textile patchworks in my costume designs, so this was something I was eager to try out in my artwork. I used a combination of materials, including acrylics painted over paper collage, 24 K gold leaf, and embossed structured details with a gel medium and modeling paste. This specific technique is mostly used to accentuate her jewelry and costume details. I covered with a gold metallic layer, it creates a shimmering 3D textured surface. These intentional irregularities give this artwork a characteristic rustic look. The vintage green, yellow and orange color scheme, decorative and baroque patterns that make up her skin and costume, combined with gold embossed trimmings. All these factors are aimed to create an authentic nostalgic feel to this portrait of a classic feminine beauty.
